First Steps

How do you have a personal relationship with God? Actually, God is already seeking to have a personal relationship with you.You may sense that you are separated from God. Yes, you have tried to be a good person but it is not good enough. The way to have a personal relationship with God is extremely simple, maybe too simple for many to fully grasp. God loves us first.“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” Christ told us, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” God does have a plan for you and he wants you to have a full and abundant life. We simply cannot have an intimate relationship with God on our own.“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” We are created to have fellowship with God; but because of our independent nature we are separated from Him. Our independent or rebellious nature causes spiritual separation; this is that feeling of loneliness, lack of peace and failure to comprehend the meaning of life. “For the wages of sin (our rebellious nature) is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” There is a God-given provision to overcome sin (our rebellious nature).“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” “Christ died for our sins.” Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” To know and experience God’s love you must receive Christ.“To all who believed him and accepted him, he gave them the right to become children of God.” It is a free gift. All it takes is faith, not in yourself, but in Christ. God saves us by His free favor toward us when we believe. “Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” How do we receive this free gift?Simply by asking. Christ said, “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” It’s up to you.If you recognize your separation from God; realize that no matter how hard you try you will never measure up to God’s standards; and, by faith you believe Jesus Christ died for your sins, you will receive the free gift of eternal life. SIMPLY PRAY:“Lord Jesus, I realize my sinful nature and that I am separated from God. Come into my heart at this very moment. Fill me with your love and peace. Give me understanding as I trust you to take away my sins. Thank you. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
Please let us know if your have prayed this prayer and accepted Christ as your savior.
